Struck in sterling silver to Proof standard, this UK 50p coin features colour printing to bring the design of the woolly rhinoceros to life. One of the largest mammals to live during the Pleistocene Epoch, the woolly rhinoceros would have been similar in appearance to the modern-day African white rhino. Palaeo-artist Robert Nicholls has created a scientifically accurate depiction of the woolly rhinoceros in collaboration with the Natural History Museum and expert guidance from palaeobiologist Professor Adrian Lister.
